SRWare Iron is a Chromium-based web browser and, as such, it’s practically a clone of Google Chrome.

If you’re wondering why you would need a browser that looks almost identical and does pretty much the same, the answer is that its developers claim that it can soothe the privacy concerns that usually arise when someone uses Chrome. Thus, SRWare Iron promises not to upload your personal data in any way or use any kind of data mining procedure.

If you are familiar with Chrome, there’s nothing really new I can tell you about SRWare Iron. It has the same sleek design that many people prefer. It’s also quite similar in terms of browsing speed. The only difference is that, while Google doesn’t deny that they may use personal information to enhance your browsing experience, SRWare makes it absolutely clear that they won’t be gathering personal data in any way. It’s good that the program has a built-in adblocker. Moreover, just like Chrome, SRWare Iron’s features can be expanded by installing extensions, some of them available at the developer’s site.

All in all, SRWare Iron seems to be a version of Chrome in which all the privacy-related options have been unchecked. In my opinion, it would have been better to teach users how to deactivate such options to their own convenience, instead of presenting it as a new product. In fact, there are many users who claim SRWare Iron is just a scam. Then, although I won’t discourage you from giving it a try, you should really be alert about that.

Pros

  • It’s very fast
  • It has a very nice design
  • It doesn’t collect personal data

Cons

  • It’s too similar to Chrome
  • Some users think it’s a scam

No auto-updater. Basically, it gives you by default everything what you can do manually in Chromium.

You get all of the software development expertise of the Chromium Project, with none of the disadvantages. Plus, it can work as a portable app, if you want to carry it with you, that is, if you don't use cloud sync.
